Study Abroad + Options
Complete an internship with an international organization to differentiate your resume, earn essential skills that employers value, and grow your professional network with the API Global Internship program. Full-time internships will require a commitment of 32 hours a week.
API’s global internship programming will support your success and engage you in activities designed to refine specific skills, our on-site staff will orient you to the international workplace culture, and guide you through in-person and virtual cultural workshops as well as local visits. Capstone your experience by earning a digital badge that you can add to your LinkedIn profile, e-portfolio, personal websites, digital resumes and more.
8, 10 and 12-week API interns participate in 2-3 excursions. Cultural events may also be available alongside study abroad students. Availability may vary and participants are given the full excursion schedule prior to arrival on-site.
CREDIT OPTIONS - Up to 6 semester credits available on some internship programs for an additional fee.

API internship programs encompass a number of career development and cultural resources to help participants maximize their personal and professional development.

Work with the top startup accelerator in Latin America, and one of the top 5 in the world reaching out to financial technology startups in Chile. This internship’s duties may include working on communication plans, creating and organizing meet-ups and community events, and other duties as assigned.
Environmental Studies Internship
Internship at a non-profit corporation aimed to build and implement a participatory transformation of public spaces creating training experiences, channeling the ideal of young people in activities that contribute to their development solutions. This organization generates synergy between public, private and civil society organizations, enhancing the results, impact, and sustainability of initiatives for the effective transformation of society. The intern will assist with the analysis of climate change agreements and its relation to the achievements of the organization, as well as the support of content development focused on the impact of a national environmental public policy. The intern will conduct a comparative analysis with regard to the legislation of compensation emissions at the international level.
Accounting and finance internships abroad are a great way to gain valuable work experience in an international setting and are available in all of our destinations. There is a wide range of opportunities working with companies and organization of all sizes. Example intern duties might include accounting, accounts receivable/payable, financial analysis, auditing, tax preparation, financial reporting, administrative, and research.

Many advertising companies work with global clients and journalism often is international in scope. Having a global perspective in these fields is an asset, so stand out with an international internship experience! Example intern duties might include client relationships, copywriting, editing, writing, creative, event management, social media management, website content development, branding, press releases, filming, and communication strategy.
Create international style and skill to your portfolio through an art or design internship abroad. It will also be a unique chance to learn what inspires other designers and artists abroad in a wide variety of placement options in galleries, studios, museums, theaters, and schools. Example intern duties might include event planning, designing products, curating shows, installation, creating event signage and promotions, performing, sewing, budgeting, textile use, and administration.

There are many international schools abroad that will host interns in their classroom or administrative offices. Most destinations in the northern hemisphere have a similar calendar and experience extended summer breaks during May, June, July, and August making placements limited during this time. What better way to prepare for your future career than participating in an international internship with a hotel, spa, resort, or restaurant in one of the world’s key international travel destinations? Example intern duties might include creating tour packages, developing marketing, strategy, hotel management, client services, sales, cooking, event planning, vendor relations, activity coordination, food and beverage management, catering and administration.
Participating in a law internship abroad can be a wonderful way to learn about the legal system in another country, advocate for rights for a certain cause or group of people, and add value to your resume! Example intern duties might include legal research, attending court sessions, reviewing court cases, meeting with clients, preparing court and legal documents, and administration.

Have a passion for sports? There are sports related internship opportunities to meet a wide variety of majors that will offer a high-quality learning experience abroad. Imagine interning with a soccer or rugby league, helping plan a sporting event, assist with corporate ticket sales, or gain experience in sports journalism writing for a local newspaper. Those are just a few of the areas that are feasible for an internship in this area. Our internship program includes safe and secure housing in the cost of the program fee. Housing types and amenities will vary by location. Participants in Santiago have the option of a homestay with meals or double share bedroom in a furnished apartment.
Internship participants should expect the accommodation to be centrally located and easily accessible to public transportation. Each participant’s commute will vary, as internship placements are located in different areas in each location. Average commute times range from 30 minutes up to an hour. Housing placements may be mixed gender (by apartment, not by bedroom). Participants will receive their confirmed housing assignment approximately three weeks prior to departure.
