This customized program examines comparative criminal justice: how different societies around the world practice criminal justice relative to practices in the United States. This course will compare U.S. criminal justice systems to Berlin’s systems, with a specialized focus on institutional corrections. Students will also learn about the two countries different cultural, historical, and political landscape that shapes the current criminal justice and correctional systems. This course will include a global study component with international travel to Berlin, Germany.

This program examines comparative criminal justice: how different societies around the world practice criminal justice relative to practices in the United States. The course will compare U.S. criminal justice systems to Berlin’s systems, with a specialized focus on institutional corrections. Students will also learn about the two countries different cultural, historical, and political landscape that shapes the current criminal justice and correctional systems. The course will include a global study component with international travel to Berlin, Germany.

NOTE: This program is only open to students from the University of Baltimore.
