API students participate in several excursions per session designed to help familiarize them with areas of their host city, country, and surrounding region. The following is a listing of all excursions for API Budapest programs. All excursions are subject to change.

  • Szentendre

This 12th-century baroque town has inspired artists for centuries. In 1690, when the Turks invaded Belgrade, more than 6,000 Serbian residents fled to Szentendre and settled there. This gave it a unique Balkan feel with its cobblestone roads and red-tiled roofs. Today, the town is famous for its many museums, including the open-air museum showing Hungarians’ way of life in centuries past.

  • Pécs

The monuments in Pécs reveal a long history of Roman, Ottoman and Habsburg influence. Remnants of the 1543-1686 Turkish occupation are found in the two former mosques and Ottoman architecture. The 11th-century cathedral and ruins of a 4th-century Roman cemetery illustrate the rich history here.

Summer students will live with other API participants and/or international students in Corvinus University’s student dormitory which houses international students for the summer. Traditionally, 2 students (API or non- API) share a bedroom, while 2 rooms share a bathroom. The student dormitory will also have a washing machine, but no dryer. Students can dry their clothes on a clothes- rack, or there is a 24/7 laundry service about a 10- minute walk away. Each room has its own fridge, and bed linen and sheets are provided. Each floor includes a simple shared kitchen, but meals are not included in the API program cost.

The dormitory is located in the 9th district of Budapest, in the vibrant area of Ráday street, and is packed with cafés, restaurants and grocery stores. Metro lines are within a 5-10 minute walk, and the student dormitory itself is located at about a 5-10 minute walk from Corvinus University campus and Corvin shopping mall.
