Located on the northwestern tip of the North Island, Auckland (population 1.5 million) is the largest city in New Zealand and home to an eclectic population of Europeans and Pacific Islanders. Known as the “City of Sails” for the abundance of boats in its harbor, the metropolitan area features over 100 miles of coastline. API students have the opportunity to study abroad in Auckland at the innovative AUT University. Founded in 1895, AUT University describes itself as “the university for the changing world,” is focused on providing student-centered, innovation and responsive learning experiences. The main campus is in the heart of the city, a mere 10-15 minute walk to the harbor area. Approximately 22,000 students are enrolled at AUT University, of which nearly 4,000 are international students.

Students can choose from subjects such as art and design, business, computer science, environmental science, hospitality and tourism, Maori studies, public policy, sport and recreation, and much more.

The University of Auckland, the top university in the country for teaching and research, is also located in the city’s historic center, close to the central business and shopping districts and the beautiful Waitemata Harbour. Twice the size of AUT, UA has a student enrollment of 42,000 including 6,700 international students.Founded in 1883 the University is ranked in the top 100 universities by QS World University with 16 subject areas in the top 50. UA offers comprehensive degree programs within Faculties of Arts, Business and Economics, Creative Arts and Industries, Education and Social Work, Engineering, and Science. The Business School has Triple Crown accreditation from AACSB International, EFMD-EQUIS, and AMBA.
