Now, Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona is offering some of its most popular courses online! Courses are available in English and are taught by some of their leading faculty.

On this program, students will have the opportunity to:

If participating in the optional January 2021 excursion, students will be charged an additional fee of $2280.

Program participants will have the opportunity to culminate their virtual learning experience over the summer with an optional 7-day excursion to Spain in January or March 2021! Students will visit the important Spanish cities of Barcelona, Madrid, and Salamanca and experience the country’s rich cultural heritage through various tours, visits to historic sites, and opportunities to experience the local culture firsthand. Please note that the international excursion requires a minimum enrollment.

Summer

The week will include guided tours of each city, including Barcelona’s famous Barrio de Grácia neighborhood and a bicycle excursion through central Madrid. Students will also participate in activities designed specifically to expose students to local culture and history, to include language exchanges with local Spaniards and visits to local organizations, including a Spanish ham company – the best ham in the world! In addition, students will dive into the local culture with a flamenco show, rumba workshop, cooking class, and more. Several group meals are included throughout the week to connect and reflect on each day, and of course the week would not be complete without some churros & chocolate!

Students may select one or two courses per session from some of UAB's most popular offerings to complete online over the summer. Online teaching will involve varied methodology including live class sessions, guest speakers, group work, debate, projects, self-study, and tutorials.

Courses will be delivered both synchronously and asynchronously within a virtual classroom space. Live sessions will be strategically scheduled during U.S. daytime hours and will also be recorded and available to students who are unable to be present. Some classroom activities may involve recorded presentations, readings, case studies, practical exercises, virtual tours, etc.

International Marketing Strategies

This course focuses on marketing strategy and management within the context of the international markets. It introduces the complex and constantly evolving realities of international marketing. It evaluates cultural differences and aims to enhance student skills in developing and implementing marketing strategies and decision making in the international contexts.

Spanish Civilization and Culture

This course begins with an extensive review of the history of Spain as a way to give students a general frame of reference where they can place the topics discussed in class. Different cultures in Spain will be examined: Castellana, Catalana, Vasca and Gallega, paying special attention to language, nationality and political implications.

Politics, War and Economy in the Age of Globalization

This course wants to offer a global introduction to World Politics and Economics studying different theories and perspectives explained by different authors since 1991. By studying the International Relations under the Cold War students will cover how two superpowers organized two areas of influence creating two minor globalizations.In the last part of the course, students will revise the major perspectives on Globalization and how it is shaped everyday by the interactions of millions of people.

Managerial Skills for International Business

The course intends to enable students to know about the basics of management and leadership.

It also intends to develop the participant’s managerial skills that are necessary for a successful career.

Students will develop their managerial skills throughout different ways, including business cases, debates, teamwork, role playing, etc. The lecturer will ask for an interactive dialogue within the participants and aim to gain a final high level of participation.
