Now, the London School of Economics is offering exclusive presentations of its online certificate courses for summer students! These short, highly interactive courses allow students to gain access to the insights and expertise of LSE subject experts and thought leaders, as they would on campus, in addition to hearing from industry pioneers through video lectures. Students will engage with real-world case studies and issues, and upon successful completion of the course, earn a certificate from LSE.

LSE’s online certificate courses are available at various start dates from May to September, 2020. The length of each course varies from 6 to 10 weeks. Specific dates and deadlines for each course are detailed below. If participating in the optional January 2021 excursion, students will be charged an additional fee of $2150.

Program participants will have the opportunity to culminate their virtual learning experience over the summer with an optional 7-day excursion to London, including a day trip to Paris, in January or March 2021! Students will visit the important historical and cultural sites, and participate in various tours, visits, and opportunities to experience the local culture firsthand. Minimum enrollment is required.

What You’ll Study

Each course requires a time commitment of 6-12 hours per week. All courses are primarily asynchronous however there is a synchronous aspect with discussion forums in which students are expected to interact. This approach allows students to participate from anywhere in the world, at their convenience, and still connect with peers using a highly supportive and interactive learning platform. Students will also have access to technical and academic support around the clock.

TRANSCRIPTS

LSE’s certificate courses are not for credit. Participants who successfully finish a course by completing 50% or more will receive a certificate of completion. A letter listing their overall completion percentage, as well as percentage scores for each of the modules within a course, is also available upon request.

All courses begin with a one week orientation period prior to the first module being released. Modules are released on a weekly basis for the following 6-10 weeks, depending on the course.

This course is technical in nature. It makes use of coding in R and covers the application of machine learning in business. Some algebraic and calculus knowledge is strongly advised, but is not required. Tertiary level statistics and knowledge of a functional or object oriented language is advantageous. HTML is not considered a programming language in this context. No specific software is required for this online certificate course. This course is offered from LSE's Department of Statistics.
