A grand opportunity to work closely with members of local nonprofit and government-sponsored animal rescue and rehabilitation centers, located in the rainforest region of Ecuador. These centers are dedicated to the conservation and rehabilitation of rescued animals.

Participants will be housed with a local host family. Hosts range from single and family homes or couples of varying ages. Each participant has a private room and is provided with 2-3 meals per day.

Our host partners work with API to individualize start dates throughout the year, for this reason, applications are accepted on a rolling basis. We recommend you apply at least 8 weeks before your program start to have sufficient time to get your placement and make your plans. Specified dates are group enrollment dates. Please contact your Program Coordinator to customize a start date.

Prices below are for the 2-week Quito program. Each additional week in Quito incurs a $400 per week charge.

  • The 2-week program in the Amazon is $1,750. Each additional week in the Amazon incurs a $400 per week charge.
  • The 2-week program in the Galapagos is $2,200. Each additional week in the Galapagos incurs a $400 per week charge.
