Following torrential rainfall this weekend, devastating mudslides in the southern province of Putumayo, Colombia resulted in the deaths of more than 200 people, with many locals missing and hundreds injured. API’s Teach in Colombia program participants are all placed in cities in central and northern Colombia, and we have no reason to believe they are in the vicinity of the landslides, which took place in a remote part of the country, over 600 km from the closest teaching placement. We will continue monitoring the situation, and will provide updates here as warranted. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families of this tragedy.
