For the last year, COVID-19 has dominated headlines, causing all of us to miss many beloved interactions, including social groups, travel, and more. API is excited to offer you engaging opportunities to reconnect, grow and enjoy with peers.
Based on topics that are front and center in our collective consciousness, API invites you to apply for one of these US-based programs covering some of the most important topics of our time.
Participation in these programs can be completely online/virtual or in-person in the US cities noted below:
- Study Investing for Social Good and take courses in Small Business + Entrepreneurship and Marketing. Earn an API Badge in Leadership.
- Study Social Justice, Diversity & Inclusion . You’ll take courses in Social Justice, Race, and Gender Issues in American Society and Interpersonal Communication and earn an API Badge in Advocacy.
- Study Emotional Health & Wellbeing. You’ll take Foundations for Healthy Living and Introduction to Psychology, and earn an API Badge in Mindfulness.
In all programs, you’ll:
- Connect with change-makers and those advocating for social good with a keynote speaker series, round table discussions, and virtual events, like a cooking lesson, yoga practice, and more!
- Have the optional opportunity to apply your learning on-site, engaging in unique experiences in top US travel destinations: Austin, TX, Charleston, SC, Chicago, IL, and San Diego, CA!
- Have an opportunity to apply for a $1,000 scholarship!

Accelerated Innovation Lab Abroad
We’ve shortened our virtual Innovation Lab program to an 8-week accelerated version for summer, and added an on-site study abroad experience! You will complete the academic components virtually, while visiting beautiful Dublin, Ireland, one of the EU’s youngest, fastest growing, and most diverse capital cities! This growing center of technology start-ups is at the heart of innovation, and as you work with a team to address global issues, the city becomes your classroom to consider the individual impact of your solutions.
In addition, you’ll earn three digital API badges certifying the skills developed during your innovation journey:
- Global Innovation
- Global Problem-Solving
- Global Teamwork
Sustainable Community-Building in Costa Rica
Spend your summer earning lab sciences credit and travel to a unique community-style experience in rural Costa Rica! The Sustainable Community-Building program is designed for students who want a summer adventure abroad without the uncertainty of a cancelled trip or entry restrictions. Experiential in its design, this program is in a safe, contained natural environment in a country known for its dedication to environmental issues and sustainable practices. Learn by doing by spending two weeks working and learning on an organic farm in one of the world’s most environmentally progressive countries with a small group of similarly minded peers.
- Earn natural/lab sciences credits (4). Class taken virtually, with on-site portion at one of Costa Rica’s most established and respected working organic farms.
- Earn an API badge in Mindfulness
- Continue working with and learning from your amazing Costa Rican Resident Directors even after you leave.

Italy is among our most beloved destinations for students, and our programs offer a wide array of courses in English, across a broad spectrum of subjects, from Food Marketing and Communication in Florence, to Mechanical engineering courses and Archaeology in Rome. To accommodate for local policies around COVID-19, we anticipate students will be required to quarantine for the first two weeks upon arrival. However, the combined session timeframe means you’ll still have plenty of time to learn and explore your magnificent host city.
