Student Visa Process for Argentina

Students who will be studying in Argentina for a semester or more and enrolled directly with an Argentine university are required to obtain a student visa prior to arrival. Your visa represents your right to legally study at a university in Argentina. 

Argentina has implemented an online student visa process called TIE24H. Passport holders from countries visa-exempt for tourism to Argentina can use the TIE 24H (Electronic Entry Processing) for non-tourist activities. The requirements for obtaining a visa on-line are listed below. You can find a step by step guide here

Certain requirements will be provided by API and the host university, to receive them you should submit all API application documents. These requirements are: 

  • Application for Authorization to Enter the Country – This will be provided by the host university and sent to you by API.
  • RENURE-This will be done by the host university and sent to you by API.
  • Official acceptance from host university-This will be sent to you by API

TIE24 Application Process

  • Go to website: www.migraciones.gov.ar/radex
  • Select Tramitación de Ingreso Electrónico-TIE 24H.
  • Select 1 pasoInicia el trámite y valida el pago
  • Select Registro de Usuario-Registra tu usuario para iniciar el tramite
  • In the first step, you should select the Registro de Usuario-Create online account.
  • Complete the Registration Form-Please enter an email address you check frequently as updates will be sent to that email address.
  • Validate Email-You will receive an email that will allow you to validate your email address.
  • Next, you must set a new password
  • Select the option-Realizar Pago de Tasa de Un Nuevo Trámite
  • The system will redirect you to the payment platform where you must register as a user. Select-Haga clic aquí, si desea registrarse.
  • Complete the form with your personal information.
  • Select the option-Tasa de Tramitación de Ingreso Electronica 24H.
  • Complete the form with your personal information. 
    • Select the country where you reside
    • Select the type of authorization you wish to apply for-You will select Study-b. Por estudio
  • Verify the information is correct, select the type of card you will use then make the payment.
  • Next, enter your card details (Note: the system only accepts credit cards issued by traditional banks. No Debit cards (all) // Credit cards from non-traditional banks // Digital wallets are not accepted)
  • Once payment is made, the screen will display the paid requests. Click the icon on the right, it will download the corresponding receipt.
  • The system will assign you a sticker number to continue uploading your application.
  • You will go back to the initial webpage and select-Nueva Tramitacion de Ingreso Electronica
  • Select the option-Solicitar Nueva Tramitación de Ingreso Electronica
  • Complete the online application form. Once it is confirmed, it cannot be modified. Please verify information before confirming.
  • Validate the sticker that was previously assigned to you on the payment platform.
  • Select the type of application you wish to apply for and the Consulate closest to your current place of residence. You will select the application for Study.
  • Once the application has finished uploading, select finish order (finalizar orden).
  • You will see a message displayed indicating step 1 has been completed.
  • You will receive, within the following 48 hours, an email with credentials that will allow you to access Step 2. To log in, you will need to use the assigned username and password. Additionally, complete information about the selected consulate will be provided.
  • Go to step 2 and enter your email and password at the login page.
  • Upload the required requested documents in each box.
  • Finalize Step 2. You will receive a message indicating the process has successfully registered.
  • Upon completing Step 2, you will receive an email with the complete details of the selected Consulate.
  • You must contact the Consulate via email to pay the corresponding consular fee.
  • Once the consular fee has been paid, you will receive an email within 10 business days with the result of your application.
  • If approved, you will receive, via the same email, the authorization for your entry and a 24-hour TIE Certificate, which you must present upon entering Argentina.

Applications are personal and the applicant must submit the following documents (an original and a copy) at the Consular Office:

  • Passport valid for at least six (6) months at the time of entering Argentina, with at least two (2) blank pages.
  • Two (2) current 4×4 cm photographs, facing the camera, printed in color, on a white background.
  • Visa application form filled out (preferably in electronic format) and signed by the applicant.
  • Program of study.
  • Electronic filing of the student data by the educational institution in the National Directorate of Migration.
  • The educational institution must be duly registered with the National Registry of Petitioners on behalf of Foreign Applicants of Argentina (RENURE) and have their inscription number. If the host is not registered with RENURE, please call (54-11) 4317-0200/0303/0337 to complete the registration.
  • Proof of sufficient funds to cover stay and study expenses (consular authorities may request copies of bank account statements, credit card statements, or other).
  • In the case of travelers aged 16 or older traveling for a period exceeding 6 (six) months, an apostilled or legalized certificate of good conduct issued by the competent authority of the countries where they resided for more than one year over the previous three years.
  • In the case of travelers aged 16 or older traveling for a period exceeding 6 (six) months, commitment to tell the truth or sworn affidavit of their lack of a criminal record in other countries, signed before the consul.
  • Payment of consular fee: Fee depends on the Consular Office where the application is filed. The fee must be paid in the local currency of the Representation.
  • Consular interview.
  • If the student is a minor, authorization by both parents in order to apply for the visa and the name of the tutor responsible in Argentina.

You must submit your visa application and the supporting documents to the proper Argentine Consulate in the U.S. Please review your consulate’s website carefully as some consular procedures may vary. We will provide some information regarding the latest requirements, but this information changes frequently. It is important that you double check what is printed here with the consulate- verify the information on the consulate website or confirm with them via email, fax or phone. Visa processing times vary by consulate but can range from 1-6 weeks.
