API continues to highlight our fantastic alumni through our weekly feature, #TravelTuesdays, where our former students share personal photos and experiences from their international experiences on the @apiabroad Instagram account! Check out a recap from March of API alumni who shared how their experiences and how their time abroad impacted their lives!
Our first #TravelTuesday featured alum was Cameron, an architecture and design major who found inspiration in Florence’s beauty! “I studied in 2016 in Florence! I loved this particular spot which overlooked an arched bridge. My friend Danielle and I would go to the Ponte Vecchio area to get our favorite ice cream and pizza and sketch because we had to fill up our class journals! I always sketched and took photos outside of class because my major was in architecture and design!”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One of Jordan’s favorite memories from her time in Budapest, Hungary with API was visiting The Museum of Sweets and Selfies, a museum that housed a collection of bright, fun, and bizarre rooms, each offering a chance to leave the real world behind for a while. The rooms were decorated with objects varying from flamingo plushies to pink bananas. “My friends and I took some great photos!”
Dubrovnik, Croatia student Alex shared with us that her time abroad in 2015 led her to a new chapter in life, as she is now living full time in Croatia! “I studied abroad in 2015 in Croatia and ended up coming back. I’ve been here for the past three and a half years! This particular photo was at a football match, the two biggest rival teams in Croatia, my friend and I were able to get into the match last minute. It was an authentic Croatia experience! One of many that eventually made me move back here.”⠀⠀
AnnMarie studied with API in Italy, where she spent some time traveling. She had the chance to visit Sicily, and even made a trip to Turkey! “My favorite memory was going to the Turkish Stairs! They were breathtakingly beautiful, and we jumped from the cliff into the sea! The photo I shared was in Castel Mola Sicilia, Italy.”
An API Budapest API alum, Mackenzie, closed out #TravelTuesday for March by sharing a photo from the Szechenyi Thermal Baths, which appears to be heaven on earth! “I was a junior in college! Being abroad taught me how to be independent. My advice, if you want to do, see or experience something, don’t let others hold you back from doing it!”
