What’s Included?
Career Coaching & Career Hub
From the moment a student applies for an API internship, they receive support from our team in the form of resume creation and/or polishing, mock interviews to hone their interview skills, and access to our Career Hub, where students can access resources to support their career exploration.
AI Skills Course
All API students have the opportunity to step into the world of artificial intelligence and explore how AI is reshaping creativity, careers, and everyday life—no technical background required. In API’s AI Skills: Prompt to Productivity course, they learn to craft effective prompts, evaluate AI-generated content, and build the practical AI literacy skills that are becoming essential across industries and professions.
Visited and Verified™ Housing
API’s Visited and Verified™ brand means that housing has been visited and inspected by one or more API employees, agents, or housing specialists, and verified as an appropriate accommodation in terms of safety and security, convenience of location, and comfort.
Onsite Immersive Experiences
All API programs include a set of onsite experiences designed to help interns be more immersed in their host country’s culture. Activities may include volunteer activities, guided walking tours, cooking lessons, and more!
24x7 Support

Medical Insurance
All of our student interns receive comprehensives medical insurance specifically designed to cover students while they are traveling abroad. In addition, students can opt into CFAR/IFAR insurance to ensure they are covered should their internship be cancelled or interrupted for any reason.
API’s Various
Internship Types
Internships are not one size fits all, and students may have different goals for what they want to get out of their internship. Review all the types below and follow the link to review actual postings that align with each type.
Individual Internships
This is the most common type of internship where we align one job with one student, though, there may be other API students at an employer location. Virtual options are also available.
Study + Intern
In these programs, students get to combine taking classes at a host university while also interning for an employer. It’s a great way to ensure they can stay on track to graduate.
Project-Based Internships
In this internship type, students work together as a team on a specific project or challenge defined by an employer. Students collaborate and present real-world solutions to the employer at the end of their program.
Career Exploration
These short-term programs offer students the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with an organization or several organizations that do the type of work they are considering. These internships are non-credit bearing, but are often the most hands on ways to learn about a particular job type.
Research
These internships are for students interested in diving into a research project with one of the leading research universities in the UK. With an international reputation in areas such as materials science, art and design, sports science and engineering, biomedicine, and economic and social research, students will be matched with a project that utilizes their interest, skillset and that aligns with their career goals.
