API Safety Update – Catalonia Referendum

October 1, 2017

The media has reported multiple injuries resulting from clashes between Spanish police and citizens, amid today’s historic vote on an independence referendum in the province of Catalonia. In anticipation of this event, API students were repeatedly advised in recent days to avoid protests or public gatherings, to monitor local media closely, and [as always] to adhere to any instructions they might receive from API staff or local authorities. Students were also reminded to notify our Resident Directors with any concerns or if they needed any assistance. API staff has no reason to believe that any API students have been injured as a result of today’s events, nor have they received any reports that our students were involved in any incidents. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will post updates as warranted.
