Are you looking for an affordable way to live abroad? Why not start with a 3-month assistant teaching position in the lovely city of Turin, Italy? Just look at the beautiful architecture and landscape:

This Teaching program, organized in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Education, is being offered in the spring as a pilot program as part of a new “Bilingual Torino” initiative. It consists of a guaranteed position to serve as an English Teaching Assistant for three months in a local middle school in Turin. Participants will work a total of 15 hours per week, dividing their three daily hours at the school. First, they will spend an hour over lunch chatting with teachers and staff of their school to help improve their conversational English skills. After which, they will spend two hours teaching small classes of eight students to help improve their conversational English skills and their vocabulary.

In exchange, the API participant gets to live with a host family, have most meals covered, enjoy 9 hours per week of Italian language classes, and experience the wonders of living in Italy in one of the most engaging and economical ways imaginable! Although participants will be working Monday through Friday, they will have weekends free to independently explore their new Italian “home.” They may also choose to visit nearby sites in France and Switzerland, or even fit in some skiing during the winter months!

If you are not able to travel to Italy to teach for 3 months this coming spring, there is another start date in the fall, so you can get a head start and apply! You might also want to consider our Tutor in Italy program option, which runs year-round and lasts 1, 2 or 3 months.

For more information on both these options, visit the API website, email us at [email protected], or call 1-800-844-4124.
