API has been closely monitoring the coronavirus situation. Our spring semester participants who had plans to study in Shanghai have been assisted in deferring their enrollment to a later session or to an alternate location outside of China.
For participants heading to countries outside of China where there are cases of coronavirus, we are referring them to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) for reliable information on the nature of the virus and latest updates. We advise all travelers to refer to this list of tips for healthy travel provided by WHO. As always, to prevent catching any virus, the first tip is to frequently wash your hands, and traveling with hand sanitizer is a good idea as well.
As it is also flu season worldwide, any participant who has a health concern after arriving on-site is encouraged to reach out to their on-site Resident Director(s) if they need help getting referred to a medical provider.
