This afternoon, congrats are in order for Reykjavík University! The campus is now third in the WORLD for “citations” in the QS World Rankings. Wondering what that means? Let’s break down why it’s such a big honor, and why Reykjavík University is a great place to study abroad.

QS World Rankings

The QS World Rankings are based on six metrics: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Faculty/Student Ratio, Citations per faculty, International Faculty Ratio & International Student Ratio. Although ‘citations’ sounds like getting a ticket, this actually measures how often a university’s research is cited by other institutions. Therefore, coming in third in the WORLD means a lot of people care about the research happening at Reykjavík University.

Business, Computer Science & Engineering Program

This API program focuses on STEM and engineering, with classes taught in English. Therefore you can comfortably learn everything from accounting to thermodynamics right in the heart of the city. This program is also a relatively inexpensive option when compared to other study abroad programs!

Life in Reykjavík

Because Reykjavík is the world’s northernmost capital city, you can expect a cold but beautifully unique experience! While studying abroad with API, you can feel confident in having all the resources you need available. Students live in apartments or guest houses with internet access. Above all, students are very close to beautiful natural hot springs, delicious cuisine, and stunning views! Our on-site director speaks English and also knows plenty about the country as she is from Iceland. She’ll take you on excursions across the island, including a trip to see the Northern Lights!
