Developing Interprofessional Faculty-Led Study Abroad Programs
This professional development experiential learning workshop offers participants the unique opportunity to learn from expert faculty and practitioners on how to create and deliver highly successful faculty-led programming.
Whether participants are faculty or staff, new to faculty-led programming or leveling up skills and experience they already have- this workshop will deliver the opportunity to enhance the skills necessary to be successful in the world of faculty-led programming. Skills like innovative problem-solving, cross-cultural communication, decision-making, communication, and leadership.
The workshop will delve into the aspects of program development as participants learn how to transform renowned destinations like Paris into immersive classrooms through a thorough examination of the factors that contribute to the strength of faculty-led programs. Learn from seasoned faculty and study abroad professionals whose expertise will equip attendees with valuable insights on how to create structured, meaningful, safe and highly engaging student experiences.
The changing landscape of global education highlights a growing preference among students for short-term study abroad experiences. In response to this trend, faculty-led programs have emerged as successful approaches for fostering access and diversity among study abroad participants. Due to the changing nature of higher education and the constraints many are facing, it becomes imperative for faculty and staff to collaborate in providing accessible and high-quality short-term learning opportunities. This workshop focuses on best practices of interprofessional faculty-led programs to effectively utilize resources across disciplines.
Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants will earn an API Career Cred certifying their meaningful engagement with the identified skills and can share it on LinkedIn and other digital platforms.
Participants also have the opportunity to take skills training to the next level and unlock your natural talents, strengths, and skills by exploring and leveraging your CliftonStrengths to enhance your approach to interprofessional faculty-led programs. You’ll participate in a general CliftonStrengths session followed by an individualized coaching session with a Gallup Certified CliftonStrengths Coach. Participants will need to take the CliftonStrenths Assessment, if they haven’t already done so, prior to participating in the workshop, more details on CliftonStrengths can be found here.
