API is excited to announce our new Study and Intern Abroad programs! With these programs, students are able to complete each component consecutively, starting with a study abroad program followed by a personalized internship. This is an exciting opportunity for students seeking balance between education and professional development abroad!

Choose from four beautiful locations

Applications are now open for our Fall 2020 programs in Dublin, Santiago, Sydney and Barcelona. Each location offers unique and eye-opening experiences for international students, with rich histories and dynamic city centers that make for an ideal learning environment.

Dublin is a bustling Irish city that feels like a large village, famous for award-winning pubs and tasty restaurants. Santiago is both the capital and largest city in Chile. It has an extensive public transportation system and incredible mountain views. Students who choose to go to Sydney will study and intern abroad in Australia’s oldest and largest city, home to amazing cuisine and gorgeous beaches. And finally, Barcelona: a beautiful blend of old and new. It’s considered a cosmopolitan city with ample museums, cinemas, clubs, restaurants and more. Whichever city fits your goals, you’re bound to broaden your horizons and discover a vibrant culture during your study and intern experience.

Complete a short-term study abroad program followed by a credit-bearing full-time internship

The program begins with two, five-week intensive academic courses taught on-site*. These courses are exciting offerings meant to help students expand their global perspective. In the Critical Thinking course, students will consider the biases, perspectives, and motivations that can impact organizational problem solving. The goal of the course is to help students understand how to better evaluate, analyze and resolve issues in organizations, workplaces and more.

Immigration in a Historical Context examines the current ambivalence towards immigration, and explores the important history of immigration and its societal significance around the world. Come ready to explore and learn about the political, economic, social and cultural benefits migrants have brought through the centuries.

Following the five-week study abroad program, students will take part in an eight-week, full-time internship placement. This internship is worth 6 U.S. academic credits! One of the biggest benefits of this program is the chance to work with our Internship Team to find a personalized, customized internship placement based on your specific career and academic goals. In the past, API has coordinated placements in sports marketing, culinary arts, and engineering.

Experience more of your host city with API

API’s on-site staff is dedicated to making your time abroad memorable and helping you more fully immerse yourself in your host city. From cooking classes to dance lessons; rugby games to weekend road trips, API includes a wide variety of cultural activities as part of your program cost.

Why combine a study abroad program and an internship abroad program?

API’s Study and Intern Abroad programs are a cost-effective approach to international education. In addition to gaining valuable experience in an international working environment, students also return home with 12 academic credits towards their major. This program is unique in that it allows students to focus on one portion of the program at a time (first the study portion, followed by the internship placement), rather than multitasking with both program elements.

Start your application today!

The deadline to apply for this program is coming up on May 1st. API offers substantial pre-departure resources to make the application process as smooth and stress-free as possible. Learn more about the program here and let us know how we can help!
