E aí, galera?
API offers several different volunteering opportunities in three different cities across Brazil. The volunteer programs range from education and youth empowerment in the social services sector to wildlife projects in major ecological hubs of the country. Experience Brazil on a level rarely lived by the average international visitor, while focusing your energy on a good, community-focused cause. Read on to learn about two examples of projects you could participate in.
Inspired by youth development work?
Work in collaboration with a local non-profit organization whose aim is to provide better education and job opportunities to youth in order to help give them an advantage in a competitive labor market. Teens participate in special skills-based courses, making them eligible for apprenticeship programs that prepare them to perform strongly in the workforce. The role of the volunteer is to actively participate in courses related to the English language, world cultures, or topics that build on the existing skills of the volunteer.
If ecological issues are more aligned with your passions and skills, you could offer support to an organization where injured animals are rescued, rehabilitated and if appropriate, reintegrated to their natural habitat. In addition to offering a helping hand in the daily tasks of upkeep and animal care, learn about the ways in which a local organization involves and educates members of the local community to become guardians of their environment.
Program participation includes:
- Accommodation with a host family or volunteer residency
- At least two meals per day
- International health insurance
- Individualized placement and pre-departure preparation
- 24-hour in-country and Stateside support
