Society, Development & Spanish Language Program
Our program with Universidad de Congreso is open to all levels of Spanish speakers. Whether you’re just beginning your language journey, or you’re an expert en Español, there are class options for everyone in Mendoza.
Students have the option of completing Spanish language coursework in combination with elective courses in English. The elective courses include a wide variety of subjects. Some examples include Creative Writing in Mendoza, The Culture of Wine Production & Tourism, Gender & Sexualities, Sustainable Development and more.
Community Service, Internship & Volunteer Options
In addition, students can take a hands-on approach to their education through a volunteering or community service add-on. This provides students with the opportunity to socialize with “mendocinos” (as the local inhabitants of Mendoza are called). Students can volunteer at wildlife protection agencies, environmental programs, or they can work with at-risk children.
Internship options are also available. Students can gain professional experience while earning academic credit by selecting an internship course through Universidad de Congreso.
From Thermal Baths to Trekking the Andes to visiting Chile… do more with #APIabroad
Included in your program cost are excursions across South America! Your Resident Director, Rodrigo, will join you for these adventures. Excursions include a trip to San Rafael (a major economic hub in southern Mendoza province) as well as hiking in the Andes and a therapeutic retreat to the Cacheuta Thermal Baths. Wine tastings and samplings of amazing Argentinian foods are also scheduled throughout the semester.
However, one of the best parts by far about our Mendoza program is that an international excursion is INCLUDED in your program cost. Check two countries off your bucket list when Rodrigo takes you to Santiago and Valparaíso, Chile!
Live with a host family
Our Mendoza students live with host families near the university. The host family option is one of API’s favorites! These amazing people serve as a unique introduction into Argentina’s culture. Retired couples, host mothers (with or without children), or more traditional two-parent households are all common host family demographics. Students are provided with three meals per day during the week, as well as laundry service.
